Denmure Law Office has been providing legal services and advice to the residents of Southeastern Indiana since 1932. Hartell F. Denmure, founder of the firm, was a lifelong resident of Aurora, who graduated from Aurora High School in 1923, and thereafter worked his way through college at Indiana University and the Benjamin Harrison School of Law at Indianapolis.

Upon receiving his law degree, Hartell returned to his hometown of Aurora and took over the former law offices of Cassius W. and Harry K. McMullen located on Main Street. In 1945, the office was relocated to 403-1/2 Second Street above the former Renner's Dry Goods Store.

In October 1966, Hartell's son, Doug, joined the firm where he has remained in the practice of law ever since. In March of 1970, the office moved across the street to the McClellan Building, built in 1903, at the corner of Second and Mechanic Streets. In February 1990, Doug and Marlene Denmure purchased the building where the office is now located and had the exterior of the building renovated to its original state.

Denmure Law Office continues to operate and serve the citizens of Southeastern Indiana. In 2019, attorney Ashlee Satterfield joined the law firm. Doug's granddaughter, Markie Smith, worked as a paralegal for the firm for many years, and became a licensed attorney in May 2022. In January of 2024, Ashlee and Markie joined Doug as owners of the firm. The firm is primarily engaged in the practice of Medicaid applications, Medicaid appeals, Medicaid planning (asset protection planning when nursing home residency is required), estate planning/probate avoidance (wills, living revocable and irrevocable trust agreements, powers of attorney, and advanced healthcare directives), estate settlement, trust administration, real estate/deeds, and guardianships.
